Clinton County Planning Commission

The Clinton County Planning Commission is a nine-member volunteer board representing various geographical regions and professional backgrounds. Members are appointed by the Clinton County Commissioners and serve a four-year term. Their responsibilities are:

Public Meeting Schedule

Unless modified by public notice, meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the First Floor Conference Room of the Clinton County Piper Building, 2 Piper Way, Lock Haven.

The Clinton County Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board rules on requests for variances, special exceptions, or changes in zoning for the municipalities covered by the County Zoning Ordinance. Its three members and two alternates serve three-year terms.

The Clinton County Planning Department

  • Reviews and approves minor subdivision plans.
  • Issues zoning permits for municipalities covered under the County Zoning Ordinance.
  • Maintains County and municipal zoning and subdivision ordinances and maps.
  • Maintains contact information for officials responsible for zoning, subdivision, surveying, and inspection activities.
  • Maintains County demographic, economic, land use, and natural resource statistics.
  • Provides technical assistance to residents and municipalities on:
    • Permits, clearances, and legal requirements for land use and development
    • Community development planning
    • Recreational facility planning
    • Greenways and open space planning
  • Writes and administers grants for community development, housing, and recreation projects
