Why Plant Native Trees?

Planting native trees and shrubs provides long-term benefits for both people and environment:

  • Supports pollinators and wildlife
  • Helps protects streams and water quality
  • Reduces soil erosion and runoff
  • Improves air quality and carbon storage
  • Enhances property value and natural beauty

How to Plant Saplings & Seedlings

For best success, follow these basic planting tips:

  1. Choose the Right Location
    • Match the tree to site conditions (sunlight, moisture, soil type)
    • Avoid planting too close to buildings or utility lines
  2. Plant at the Correct Depth
    • Dig a hole wide enough to spread roots naturally
    • Plant so the root collar is level with the ground-do not bury too deep
  3. Water and Mulch
    • Water thoroughly after planting
    • Apply Mulch around the base (but keep it away from the trunk)
  4. Protect Young Trees
    • Use tree shelters or fencing where deer or wildlife pressure is high
    • Monitor moisture during the first growing season

Proper planting ensures strong root development and long-term survival.
