Where are they from?
Native to the Southern boarder of the United States they have been found migrating north and have been found in Southwest, Southcentral, and Northeast regions of Pennsylvania. They have not yet been seen in Clinton County.
Why are they so harmful?
Wild boar can cause damage to wildlife, habitat, and property and are extremely destructive to our natural resources and agricultural industries. These feral pigs are a threat to humans as well as pets, and livestock because they are carriers of many transmissible diseases. These are very destructive animals and can weight more than 400 pounds in adulthood.
How can I identify it?
Wild boar can vary greatly in appearance, but any member of the family Suidae rooming freely is considered a feral hog.
