MILL HALL - The Clinton County Conservation District is thrilled to announce the addition and hiring of new employees to their offices: Alexa Bixel as Deputy District Manager, Carli McConnell as Resource Conservationist and Charly Bloom as Watershed Specialist.

Alexa Bixel, the newly appointed Deputy District Manager will be responsible for overseeing crucial initiatives at the conservation district. Her role will include managing conservation programs, overseeing project management activities and ensuring efficient utilization of funding and grants to support environmental stewardship across Clinton County.

Alexa will work alongside the District Manager, Susie Peters, to help with quarterly reporting, financial tasks and other duties.

In 2022, Alexa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology from Lock Haven University. As a lifelong resident of Clinton County, she is deeply committed to serving the community in conserving natural resources.

In her spare time, Alexa finds joy in hiking with her dogs, digging in her garden and also baking.

Bixel replaced Peters who was promoted to district manager in May.

Charly Bloom was appointed Watershed Specialist in April.

As Watershed Specialist, Charly will be responsible for conducting water quality assessments and monitoring to gather vital data essential for understanding the health of Clinton County's watersheds.

Also paramount to her position as watershed specialist is the preservation and restoration of aquatic habitats by offering assistance on fish habitat enhancement and streambank stabilization projects.

Beyond her field work, Charly will serve as the conservation district's education coordinator to develop and implement educational programs tailored for both youth and adults, aiming to raise awareness about conservation.

Charly graduated from Central Mountain High School in 2015. She went to Lock Haven University and graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences: Ecology and Environmental Science.

In college, Charly was president of the LHU Biology and Marine Science Club.

Before transitioning to the Conservation District, Charly worked in the private sector of environmental consulting for the last five years. During her time there, Charly worked on delineating streams and wetlands across Pa. and Md. She also wrote and assisted with many different environmental permits.

In her spare time, Charly enjoys animals, cars, reading and spending time with family.

"I look forward to helping continue the environmental education efforts here at the district and hope to get more watershed improvement projects implemented within our county," said Bloom.
