LOCK HAVEN - The Second Annual Clinton County Night Out is only a month away, and the Clinton County Sheriff and District Attorney, along with many volunteers, are excited to share what the event will entail.
The event will be held Aug. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton County Piper Building Complex, 2 Piper Way, Lock Haven, and is free to all. The event, like last year, is hosted by DA Dave Strouse and Sheriff Kerry Stover.
Clinton County Night Out is a community team building event featuring all levels of law enforcement, fire and rescue, emergency medical personnel and first responders.
The Night Out will feature a variety of the county's fire departments and emergency medical services displaying apparatus and ready to talk with residents about what they do.
"Fun and educational things like "Save the Teddy Bear" from one of our local ALS/BLS ambulance services will be back again this year, along with hands-on training using a fire extinguisher offered by a local fire department," Stover gave examples.
Local law enforcement will also be on-hand from informational booths to popular events such as obstacle courses with "DUI" or "Beer Goggles."
The bike rodeo will be back again along with a Bike Speed Timing course to see how fast kids are.
Other vendors in attendance will be the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Fish and Boat Commission along with local vendors.
Geisinger's Life Flight helicopter and the Pennsylvania State Police helicopter are scheduled to attend. These special visitors are tentatively prepared to come, with the potential they may be unable to attend due to emergencies.
The Night Out will also feature food provided by The Old Corner Grill and Bottle Shop - the event's sole Gold Sponsor.
"The Old Corner Grill and Bottle Shop will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers and all the buns," Stover said.
Other food will be included such as chips and drinks by other sponsors.
Fun games and bounce houses will also be available for kids to enjoy while they visit with local law enforcement and emergency responders.
Stover and Strouse are excited for one special surprise that will be revealed at 5:30 p.m.
"We are really excited to see the reaction to our special attraction. Everyone have your cameras ready, because parents and kids alike are going to want to have pictures," Stover said.
The pair teased they may even join in on the fun.
Stover and Strouse are thankful for a long list of sponsors who are making this event possible.
The Sheriff and District Attorney are excited McQuiade, Blasko, a law firm from State College, has signed on as their Platinum sponsor this year. They are very happy McQuaide, Blasko trust them and believe in what they are trying to do at their Night Out.
They are also happy that Schlesinger Communications from here in Lock Haven will be returning for the second year as Media sponsor, promoting the Night Out leading up to Aug. 19 and then covering the event via on-site live remote.
